In the Beginning.....
A rainy day but a cheery group gave President Scott Smith their full attention. We thank Stacy Benotto for leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Boyd Ford for his version of asking for ‘amends'.
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul – and you learn that LOVE doesn't mean leaning and ‘company' doesn't mean security and you begin to learn that kisses aren't compromises and presents aren't promises and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead with the grace of a woman or man; not the grief of a child. Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid flight. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you ask too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to buy you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, that you really do have worth and you learn ~~ and you learn with every failure you learn.

Fining: Kelly Randall
After eager anticipation and a subdued drum roll, our handsome and witty Kelly Randall led the confessions and fining for Jane McCarthy, Mike Weaver, Kay Bliss, Maggie Cerminaro, Jerry Kaplan, Catherine Lee, Stacy Benetto and Scott Smith.

The Program: Sarah Lovering
Leland introduced Sarah Lovering, speaker for the meeting and spokesperson for the “Marijuana Policy Project”, a nonprofit lobbying reform organization. Sarah shared that she would talk about how prohibiting Marijuana since 1937 and the recent changes in California. She shared information about the medical cannabis law and the longstanding problems with prohibition. I learned that the Federal government does not allow for the sale and cultivation of pot however they have an internal memo that states the Feds will not prosecute the states for various medicinal cannabis regulations. The club really enjoyed the freshly baked brownies provided by Soule Park!
The ‘TAX CANNIBIS INNITIATIVE' will be on the ballot in November. Read AB 390 to learn more. Their site is www.mpp.org
