The Program
Retired Veterinarian John Lyon introduced Mr. Cam Shriver, winner of this year's Extreme Cowboy Race in Kansas City. This is an 8 yr old competition created by Craig Cameron. This event was held November 14 16 2008 and Cam, a young 59 years old, was one of very view athletes that is able to master this challenge. Cam is in charge of the Horse Program at Thacher School. He has been involved at Thacher for over 19 years is a great guy; even with a broken ankle !
Growing up in Sacramento, Cam enjoyed watching ranchers and cowboys but preferred the cowboys. He learned from Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance the masters ! Cam was able to work with Pat Wyse and Monty Foreman and realized he wanted to continue with the equestrian lifestyle. Cam shared with us that he has 4 children; he was a Cal Poly grad and a wonderful equestrian. The video showing Cam's victory showed Cam and his stallion jumping logs, spinning, jumping into horse trailers and riding bareback and even double. Cam is the Man and he is only 59 years old !
What some people do for fun !!!
Meeting was adjourned at 1:31pm and all in attendance enjoyed learning about this event and getting to know more about Cam.
Final Thoughts...
"Keep five yards from a carriage, ten yards from a horse, and a hundred yards from an elephant; but the distance one should keep from a wicked man cannot be measured."
