In the Beginning.....
President Dave gaveled in the meeting, the last of the year. He welcomed our Visiting Rotarians and guests, young and old. Bill Hatch led the salute to our flag, and Marty Babayco delivered a heartfelt invocation. Dick Weirick and Bill Hatch were our warm and friendly greeters. Thanks go to Larry Beckett for the room setup. Ren Adams was on the roving mike.
Announcements:
Peter Bowen thanked Sergio Arragones, our guest and program presenter with a hand drawn shirt from the MAD group.(Make a Difference).
Peter was called back to the mike by President Watson, proclaiming him Rotarian of the Month and bestowing on him the Parachute Award. Peter has been there for many of our projects, including the Taste of Ojai, which he will head up next year. Congrats, Peter Bowen!
Charlie Thompson and Dana Hoffman are recovering nicely from their recent maladies. It will be nice to see them back soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
Allan Jacobs presented the lineup of programs for the coming year. Many thanks to him and his crew for the excellent programs week in and week out. See above for January's offerings.
Our indefatigable member, Jack Huyler sung a spirited rendition of "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" with appropriate dentition.
Ojai Rotary welcomes our newest member, Viktoriya Nelson
Dr. Nelson was inducted into our Rotary Club. She is a new internal medicine specialist in town. Her husband, Jeff and son, Daniel were present. Viktoriya was sponsored by Haady Lashkari and will be mentored by Kay Bliss. Welcome, Viktoriya!
A great time was had by all at the Ojai Rotary Holiday Party at the Azu Restaurant.

Fining: Marty Babayco
Dr. Marty led the monetary extraction session. The following were fined:
Jane McCarthy sold her home and she celebrated her son's 21st birthday.
Larry Beckett had a birthday.
Amani Hishmeh's son is graduating from Willamette University. Her other son is coming home from Charleston, and her sister is coming to visit from Dubai for the holidays.
Ren Adam tried to get away with paying $49 for his birthday.
Bill Hatch is celebrating his 38th anniversary.
Program: He's quick on the draw!....Sergio Arragones
Sergio Arragones was the guest speaker. Sergio draws cartoons for MAD Magazine. He has been with Mad Magazine for 50 years and has only missed one issue and that was because a post office in France didn't deliver in time. Sergio is also known for being one of the world's fastest cartoonists. Sergio had a whiteboard and pen and drew many cartoons for the club. Keeping our youngsters and oldsters entertained.
