January is Vocational Service Month
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

Kay Bliss talked about the Rotary Global brand in India. As with all Rotary projects, it started Sith one person’s passion that infected the rest of us. It started with a visit to the Puri Clubs and working on some smaller projects: Computers for a computer lab, clean drinking water filters, tile and fixtures for the bathrooms, water storage tank. It led to a septic system district grant and now a Global Grant. Our club contributed $4,000 from our International Service Budget, Bob Skankey contributed an additional $5,000 and a non-Rotarian donor who is very supportive of the Prashanti International School contributed $10,000. The Grant is for $87,515. There are 14 clubs that contributed $31,010 and we received District Designated Funds from 3 Districts ($20,500 in DFF) and $36,005 from the Rotary Foundation. It’s incredible to see the power and impact of our contributions globally!
