Rotary Club of Ojai: International Service Committee
 
The Rotary Club of Ojai’s International Service Committee (ISC) is a very active part of our Club. Over the past several years, we have developed long-term, close working relationships with communities in several countries such as Roatan, Niger, India, Bosnia, Ghana, and Cuba. Ojai Rotary has provided grants to support and help create sustainable, positive change in the areas of medical care, economic development, education & literacy, and water & sanitation. Here is a partial list of our club’s international projects:

The Rotary Club of Ojai’s International Service Committee (ISC) is a very active part of our Club. Ojai Rotary has provided grants to support and help create sustainable, positive change in the areas of medical care, economic development, education & literacy, and water & sanitation. Here is a partial list of our club’s international projects:
 
Roatan, Honduras - Annual medical mission by Ojai Rotarian physicians to staff and provide medicine and equipment for a clinic for low-income residents.
 
Nomads in Niger – Provided training for nomadic women to be midwives in their remote communities that are without medical services; vocational training in motorcycle repair for young men in dire need of employment opportunities; goats for nomadic women after a devastating flood destroyed their herds; and in response to the coronavirus pandemic 75 hand-washing stations and supplies along with Covid-19 awareness and prevention education.
 
India – Provided an English education school for impoverished villagers with drinking water purification units, laptop computers, septic system, restroom tiling and sanitary fixtures, water storage tanks, boundary walls, entrance gates, classroom furnishings, plus special training for teachers in advanced English, class management, and Education in Human Values. And in response to the coronavirus pandemic, provided thousands of pounds of emergency food supplies and masks to families experiencing extreme food insecurity.
Several ISC members have also participated over the years in PolioPlus National Day of Immunization missions in India to eradicate polio.
Ghana – Providing furnishing for a Young Mothers Support Center for pregnant teenage street girls; and equipment for a vocational training program for impoverished young women living on the streets of Accra.
 
Bosnia (BiH) – Provided training for unemployed women in the production, processing, and preserving of tomatoes for sale in the domestic market; equipment and supplies for a rural women’s cooperative to increase the sales capacity of their cooperative marketing. 
 
Cuba - Gathering sports equipment to deliver to youth community baseball coaches.
