Little Big Bootcamp and Microgrants Program for 2023-24
The Little Big Fund Bootcamp for young social entrepreneurs was held in October. This is the second year that we had partnered with Kapadia Education Fund and Little Big Fund to train young social entrepreneurs from around the world to start their own nonprofit organization. The club contributed $4,000 to five Bootcamp graduates who have been judged as ready to implement their ideas. We are involved with he Little Big Fund in the planning for next year’s program.
Uganda Medical Clinic. The construction of the new medical clinic is completed in Uganda. Our club has provided the funds for purchase of the plot of land and
construction materials. We partnered with the Rotary Club Source of the Nile in Kampala to administer the funds for the project. Kayaka Yassin built his new clinic and received a certification from Uganda as a registered enterprise. At a ceremony in December, we installed a plaque honoring Dr. Bob Skankey for his financial and professional support to this young social entrepreneur.

Ukraine
We provided $7,000 from the Skankey Restricted Fund to Volyn Lyceum, a school/refugee center, in western Ukraine. The school has been housing 60
orphans and as many as 170 internally displaced people in their dormitories. They used the funds to purchase a new washer, wood stove and other needed equipment. We worked through the Rotary Club Ternopil City in Kremenets, Ukraine.

Botswana Global Scholarship Grant
In 2021, we partnered with the Rotary Club ofGaborone and the Rotary Club of Bend, OR on a Global Scholarship Grant. The $30,000 grant provided funding for a young Botswana medical doctor to obtain her advanced graduate degree to become a certified surgeon. The final report has received TRF approval
and was formally closed last month.
